PALM BEACH
To almost anyone, Tiffany and Co. and Palm Beach would go hand and hand, analagous like Lalique and Monte Carlo.The concept for this book is very interesting and the author fully realizes how to exploit the two to their most advantagious.The text is highly informative and the images are crisp and beautifully presented.I agree with one of the reviews that this is an expensive coffee table book, but frankly im sure those interested in this sort of thing, will not think twice about the price of admission.Really a wonderful book on a very interesting subject, well done indeed.

FANTASY LAND
This book shows that given enough money there is no limit to how young, thin and attractive your wife can be.And apparently there is no limit to the hubris of the rich--designer wine cellars on a hurricane prone barrier island.

Go Chris Santilli
Fortunately, I am lucky enough to have Chris as my ENGLISH professor at Elmhurst College this semester!! The book is a must for traveling to Jamaica's famed resort. Chris is the best.

Get for newbies
I went to Hedo for the first time this year and was glad to learn more about the resort before I arrived. highly recommended!

what a boring book!
We didn't finish the book because we found it completely unerotic and asexual. The author tells you for instance to bring safety pins to hold your toga in place and to bring toenail polish because the sand on the beach will wear it off. Wow!!! The stories told are all childish fun, but there's not a single one titillating. Puritan lack of sexuality. Boring.

Summary
I was very fortunate to see Michael Dweck's exhibition "The Surfers Life" here at the renown Blitz Gallery in Tokyo last week and I was very impressed. The show was an astonishingly beautiful collection of images by a very gifted photographer who presents his subject with great sensitivity and warmth. And, though many of these images have been seen before in his book The End:Montauk, NY", it was worth a trip to Blitz to see the show live.
Save Your Money
The book's title is, "The End."Let's hope that it is just that...the last of a sorry attempt of portrayal to nowhere.We don't need anymore of this crap shoved on us via a misleading cover photo on a dust jacket solely designed to sell a bad product.Most amazon.com people probably did purchase this book because of the nude surfer chick on the front cover.This is as good as it gets.

anyone who is from montauk or the hamptons will this this book is lame. number one the photography is bad. number 2 this guy knows nothing about the area. Beautiful Book
This is a beautiful little book that would make a great addition to any ocean lover's collection.

My Favorite Beaches Book - Inspirational !

Not Up-to-Date
I purchased this book in 1989 and used it then, and again, later in 1994. I now live on the Big Island and can tell you that this book is not up-to-date on the easily accessible beaches. There have been marked changes in the 4WD beaches, also. What was once my Beach Bible, is no longer useful. It WAS a great book.

Big Island Fun on Big Island Beaches
My favorite part of this book is how the author reveals what happened to the beach along bayfront in Hilo. The diversion of the waiolama river project removed about half of the beach. If you're wondering what this has to do with a book review, it's in the details.

For what it is worth
It's true you have to double check the info -- but he tells you that several times -- every one know that goes double outside the US -- but it is a very good resource and starter guide for those new to this -- as long as you remember that things are always changing out there -- this is diffently a good place to start

not very accurate
unfortunately it is not very accurate. Of cource I havent tried every place in the book there are hundreds but it leaves out some very importantfacts like it is true that there is a nude area in Manuel Antonio park incosta rica but the book forgets to tell you that it is gay!Be verycareful about the info on California thought it is very good at getting youthere it is not accurate on what gos on there. An expensive book that justhas not been very useful to me.

The latest edition of the "World Guide" is better than ever. I've purchased most of the other guides for clothing-optional recreation available in English, and the "World Guide" covers many more nudehot springs, free beaches, and nudist clubs than anything else in print.I've been to most of the places in the Pacific Northwest that the guidetalks about, and so far the directions and descriptions have been accurateand up to date. I take xeroxed copies of relevant pages with me as my wifeand I travel from state to state, and from country to country. Thephotography is also fantastic. Archaeological Best
I had contacted the author prior to buying the book - to use any pictures needed for my archaeology report on a site I was working.I couldn't believe the treasure I found inside.Those pictures allowed me to continue my research direction & I was able to reduce the age of my site from c.1900-1940 to c.1900-1927 & have the proof to back those dates up.I applaud Chris for this book & hope to obtain other copies for friends & associates, in the future.

From Oil City to Surf City, here it is!
I grew up near Huntiington Beach and remember the times of oil wells and derricks up and down the now-famous beach.If you drive around the town and look closely, you can still see a few derricks pumping away.What is most interesting to the reader, and should be most instructive to younger people, is the fact that Huntington Beach was part of the oil boom that attracted many, including J. Paul Getty, to southern California in the early years of the last century.Also, compared to other books in the same series, this volume has more "people shots."It's interesting especially to note what people wore in earlier times, even to the beach!

Changing Culture of the Sami
This is a well written account of a thoughtful outsider's experiences and observations of the Sami reindeer herders. Dr Beach participates in the culture and gains insights into Sami ways and the problems they encounter. A great story of the realities and hardships of a culture under great pressure to change their way of life. The author did his research in the field and it resulted in excellent data unobtainable through other methods. Very enjoyable reading, I recommend it highly to those interested in culture in the far north.

A good ecological observation of the Saami
As the author mentioned, this book is not intended as anything other than a recounting of his trip to Lapland.As an Anthropologist he was aware of how to give clear antidotal information. Read more

Be In The Know About N. Carolina Beaches
Don't look here for hotel or restaurant info.This is a beach book, so check in here by county to see the well-known beaches and those that will surprise you.The author selected Hammocks Beach State Park as the best of the lesser known beaches.He suggests the best beaches for first time visitors, the best for sports oriented vacations, and the best for visiting in the off-season.
