The ONLY cruise guide worth reading
What makes this guide stand out is that it is TOTALLY honest.When the reviewers find something awful, they unambiguously describe it as such (unlike so many other guides which will frustrate a reader by giving a shipa twostar rating then only list the good points, leaving one wondering whatthe shortcomings were) which gives their GOOD reviews more meaning , as thebook doesn't read like cruise industry self promotion.I take frequentcruises and have yet to disagree with any of their major points,either positive or negative, and on one or two occasions have found myself wishingthat I had listened to them before I booked passage.

When did these writers take these ships?
Many of the ship reviews are terribly out of date and don't sound anything like the ship is today.As a travel agent who specializes in cruises, I am distressed when a client brings this book in to plunk down money on a shipthat is nothing like the authors portray it.

The World's Most Dangerous Book
It took about five months, but I read all thousand pages of The World's Most Dangerous Places, known to its fans as DP. The book is a breezily written cyclopedia of what can go wrong and where as you travel the world.
Great
I recently finished reading the 5th Edition of DP, and was amazed.Pelton's travel tips offer a wealth of uncommon "common sense" and his tongue-in-cheek humour, rather than make light of the difficulties and suffering experienced by people in warzones, adds a strange touch of realism and illustrates the true absurdity of some situations.A must read for anybody traveling outside of the first world, or any of those folks who are afraid to leave the house in Canada or the United States.

The next big action movie?
Hot Spots opens your eyes, maybe too wide, to what really goes on "out there";on the front lines, inrebel camps, back streets, jungles and the least visited parts of the world.
