Pretty good
I like this book fairly well. It's got all kinds of information in it, which actually may be hard to wade through if you know which island you're going to, and you have to pass over the other island sections.
Not bad, but...
If you buy this, don't bother buying Frommer's Hawaii From $80 A Day. Most of it is word for word.

Is it current information?
I recently returned from Maui and used Frommer's 2005 along with another popular 2005 edition as a guide.Both provided current accurate information on lodging and activities and the other guide provided consistently accurate information on restaurants but I was surprised by the amount of either out of date or erroneous restaurant information in the Frommer's book.On one occasion we drove across the island for lunch at a recommended restaurant only to find out they are not open for lunch on any day.We went to another restaurant for dinner partly because of a dessert that Frommer's raved about.When we tried to order the dessert our waiter informed us they had not served that dessert in years.On another occasion we selected a restaurant based on a few specific dishes mentioned in Frommer's.When we arrived we did not find any of the items that interested us from the Frommer's guide on the menu.

Not EXACLY what I had hoped for
I had really hoped for more realistic ideas to go on vacation with my three children, one elementary age, preschooler, and toddler. I expected the book to leave out ideas for my toddler, but was surprised to see a lot of the suggestions left out my preschooler as well.
Interesting but Unrealistic
I had high expectations for this book but they fell flat.First, the layout is o.k. but not great.Areas are grouped by categories such as "Out and About" and "On the Water."As the book covers the world, I think it might have been better to be laid out geographically and maybe cross-referenced.As for the selections, they are very diverse.Some make sense but some I really don't feel are appropraite for children, except for maybe the very well travelled child.For example, number 397 is Mount Fuji:Scaling the Symbol of Japan.The age range is 8 and up.The author writes, "Take a shortcut directly to Kawaguchiko's Fifth Stage by bus from Shinjuku Station (be sure to book in advance); the trip takes about 2 1/2 hours.From this starting point it's about a 6 hour climb to the summit, with another 3 hours to make the descent; at the top, a 1-hour hiking trail circles the crater.The highlight of the classic Fuji Climb is to watch the sunrise from the peak, which in summer means being there by 4:30 am."I was hoping for more "kid friendly" suggestions.I don't think I'll be visiting number 280 "Hiroshima:The Original Ground Zero" or number 277 "The D-Day Beaches of Normandy" with my son anytime soon.Perhaps the child that is a huge history buff would understand the significance.

Good Guide
We're not what you'd consider wine snobs and bought this book for the good excuse of checking out wine country which is just a short drive away.It's nice they included restaurants.After all the tasting stops it made our outing complete and we drove home totally content as well as sober.

Excellent little book
This small book (only 172 pages) is perfect for planning your next Sonoma/Napa visit.In fact, although I have been many times to Napa, I wanted a new place to stay with a fireplace and jacuzzi bath and privacy.I found a great place in the book called Cottage Grove Inn - with 2 Frommers stars.
A must have on a trip to Wine country
I used this book to plan a short weekend trip to Napa Valley from Los Angeles. This book packed with all sorts of great information for each different wine country city (napa, yountville, etc) from best types of hotels for every budget, nearby attractions, spas, picnic spots, restaurants, etc. And of course a concise review and rating of the wineries in each city. Army Corps Of Engineers camp ground Modoc, SC
Just returned to Florida from three days at Modoc,SC Strom Thurman Lake and Dam. The Campground was everything the guide said it was. We were more than pleased and no complaints. We look forward to utilizing the guide again and hopefully soon...

Gold mine
This book really is awesome. Sure it doesn't list every campground out there, but the book is already the size of a major city's phone book, so it lists the best ones. I love the rating system because it gives each campground separate 1-5 star ratings whether camping with a tent or in an RV. Extraordinary detail and excellent tips, but so far I haven't seen any altitudes given, which would have been useful.

Great Guide book to South America
This is a great guide book for South America.I was looking at many of them, and thought this was the most useful for how to get around, different levels of accomodations in case you wanted high end, mid or budget...really gives you a good sense.I looked at Lonely Planet, which I normally like, but feel the South America book was lacking.I also looked at Footprint for Peru and Ecaudor...but those were hard to follow for the price ranges of hotels as they use a lettering system.I have used Frommers in the past and will continue to do so for future trips as it gives you a balanced approach and extra tips on where you may want to spend more money for the location or safety. ... Best of Travelguides
My family used Frommer's Ireland 12th Ed. extensively before, during ,and after our trip to Ireland in July of 2002. The first two chapters Best of..., and Planning your Trip... were worth the purchase price alone. All of the Best of tips we followed were excellent choices. Frommer's Ireland, 12th ed.
My wife and I traveled around Ireland for two weeks this summer, and Frommer's Ireland was an amazingly helpful tool. Hurray for Frommer's!!

Helpful but a tad boring
Don't get me wrong, I read all about the places I wanted to go and noted all the things I wanted to see.I was disappointed to see that there was no information about Evvia, the second largest island.
Frommers Greece Guide Book
This book was very helpful.It discusses topics regarding cruises which I thought was very helpful.

Good info, but needs updating
Just came back from a Greece trip, with Frommer's as my main guide. Overall, I am pretty happy with the information in it.Since I went in April, it's not always clear whether I should follow the Summer or Winter operating hours for attractions.Also, many of the restaurants have not yet opened, or have moved or closed down completely. ... Buy the 2005 version and save some money
I just got back from Spain a few days ago, having used the 2006 Frommer's Spain to plan our trip.None of the entries have been updated to reflect 2006 pricing for entry fees to museums, etc.The book has a small section in the front called "What's new in Spain" or something along those lines, but the rest of the book does not appear to have been updated for 2006.We ended up spending more than we had expected at almost every single place we visited on Frommer's advice due to the fact that the pricing was outdated.In hindsight, I would have saved some money and bought a used 2005 version.And FYI, most attractions have student discounts which knock up to half of the admission price off, so don't leave your student ID at home if you have one!

The New 2006 Frommers Review
Note: This is for anyone contemplating purchasing the new 2006 travel guide of Spain by Frommers. Don't waste your money. Although I have purchased over 30 Frommers books in the past and enjoyed each one, the Spain book was awful. In Madrid, the book lists 20 or so "Top Attractions" (which is customary for Frommers). However, try to read about these attractions (e.g. what they are, hours of operation, etc.) and you can only find about half of them in the book. How do you know if it is worth treking across town for something that has no description?

Still your best bet for a DC travel guide
I rated the 2004 edition of this book at 5 stars, but this edition has slipped just a bit for containing outdated information and omissions of a few other things, so I would say it deserves a 4-and-a-half star rating.
Frommer's Washington DC 2006 guide has it all!

Very concise, but most recommendations are right on mark and everything that really matters is well covered.
Frommer's Buenos Aires
I actually liked this guide book best of all of them.We also purchased Lonely Planet and I thought it was awful!This one was the most complete and the most accurate.We found it extremely helpful.Also, the restaurant suggestions were right on!This is the guidebook to have!

Terrible book and terrible trip
This book is bad. REALLY BAD. We spent countless precious vacation hours being lost because the directions in this book for restaurants and bars, etc. were either terrible, nonexistent, or the place did not exist altogether.
The best book in the world for Japan bound tourists.
Hello I just want to say that I can not belive all the info about Japan that is in this book. Granted It can't have it all no book does. But that's only because gernalists are lazy ha ha ha! This book has Busniss names, Addresses, Phone numbers, International calling codes, Maps, Also the avrage costs of common items your likely to buy. It has places to visit that arn't tourists traps! And if they are a tourist trap it says so. It even has a list of words in the back of the book in Japanese to learn to help you get around. For example, Where is a hospital? and How much does this cost? and Do you have any rooms availible? and much more. I can say I realy enjoy this book. Personally I have never been to Japan. But I will be a much more confadent tourist when I go now that I have this book.

Very solid guide, great maps and in-depth info
We recently returned from a 2-week trip to Tokyo and this was the guide we took with us on our trip. We had originally planned to venture outside Tokyo but due to some unforseen circumstances we ended up staying in Tokyo the entire time. So, although I think we would have been better off with Frommer's Tokyo-only guide this was a solid guide and served us well on our trip.

Frommer's Italy - By Jai Kapadia
Having grown up in Italy for 15 years, I think I understand the place really well, but I still learnt a lot from this book. Great indepth coverage on restaurants, hotels and places to visit. Plus the color maps are very useful.

Should have bought it earlier
This is a great book for planning your travel.I wish I'd bought it before I'd booked my leave.The only downside I can think of is the included map.From the product description I thought it would be of all Italy but it's only a map of Rome.

Very complete travel guide!
Frommer's Italy 2006 is a very complete and easy to read travel guide. I especially enjoyed the restaurant tips (off the beaten track and very "Italian") and the maps.
