5-0 out of 5 stars This made our trip!
This was given to us by a friend prior to our trip. I barely looked at it and thought "well, this might help". The evening we arrived in Paris we decided to plan our next day. I pulled out this guide and realized this was our only hope for seeing all we wanted to see in a timely manner. The most valuable piece of information Jeanne gives in this guide is where the Metro stations are located and what train we need to catch to get to our desired destinations.Couple this guide with the metro & city map provided by the metro stations and probably your hotel and you have a fail-safe tour of Paris! Not only did we see all we wanted to see but we did it in an efficient manner! We travelled with my in-laws and they couldn't stop complimenting me on what a wonderful tour I "put together"! 4-0 out of 5 stars very helpful guide
Just returned from a trip to Paris.Found this little guide very helpful.Used this along with bigger guide books, but this is the one we carried with us every day because it was so easy to fold up and carry in a pocket. The walking tours were very good and the suggestions about where to stopand where to eat excellent.

4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely helpfu, convenient, comprehensive, easy-to-use
We've used Jeanne Oelerich's walking guides in Rome, Florence, Venice, and Paris and have found these truly unique guides to be the single most helpful sources in planning our day and time around the places that we wantto visit. They are lightweight, compact, and remarkably comprehensive, with large, easy to read maps of specific areas, showing all the majorsights, and many less obvious ones;good restaurants, great views, andspecial treats, such as small craft shops or great ice-cream.There areoften museum floor-plans, brief histories of the area, travel and packingtips, ad glossaries. An incredible bargain! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Map
I have traveled the world and have not found a better map/guide. It should not be looked upon as a traditional travel guide but as unique and fresh approach to your journey, not to mention it's inexpensive. The maps eliminate the clutter and allows for quicker orientation.I've known many others who have used the maps and never heard a negative word. I just wish there were more cities covered.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource with unique info
This guide provided unique and interesting details to sites in the different districts of Rome. The information about St. Peters, Vatican Square and the diagram of the Sistene Chapel was fabulous. We were able to visit several out-of-the-tourist-path restaurants and found friendly locals eating inside, which provided a true taste of Rome and Roman culture. Bring a map if you want detailed directions, as this provides general directions, but it fully achieves its goal of great walking tours and fabulous information. It really made our trip to Rome special and memorable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth your money!
My wife and I went to Rome for a week in March of 2001.I ordered 2 publications. One of the publications was this one (I wish I didn't buy this one). This walking guide didn't provide enough detailed information (directions) to it's walking tours. The publication is not much better than a bunch of pages that were just printed off of a black and white printer. If this publication was selling for $1.95, then I would say it is worth the money (even then, I don't think you would end up using it). Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tour Guide
I truly enjoyed my visit to London due to this walking guide. It was easy to follow and a time saver. I was able to see the things I cared to see and walk on by the things I had no interest in. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to London who doesn't mind walking. HINT! HINT! Get a good pair of walking shoes.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste!
This is more of a pamphlet, and offers useless tipslike:3-0 out of 5 stars Light and full of useful information!
This thin publication in a protective plastic sleeve will slip easily into a breast pocket or purse, taking up little room and not weighing you down. For it's size it has much useful information for a short stay in Venice.Maps lack street names. So if you are one who likes to explore off thesugested tours you may want to pack an additonal map for security.Usefulbrief bits of information regarding culture, history, weather, Holidays,"Do's and Don'ts" and more will help the first time traveler.Ifyou don't want to carry the a heavier more detailed tour book on long walks(which you should pack)this little guide will certainly get you by for afew days. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars You can figure Florence out on your own!
This set of walking instructions is terrific if you are very limited with time in Florence. These walks will take you around the major sites; however, Florence is an extremely concentrated city. It's not the behemouth that London/ Rome/ or Paris is.Therefore, with any basic map (Insight makes an excellent one), most travelers can plan a basic route. I left this map in the hotel room, and once oriented to Florence (which takes a day) was more than capable of finding these points and major streets on my own. This little foldout is for the traveler with very litttle time or interest in planning his/ her itinerary. The times given for the walks are fairly accurate, though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great walking tour of Florence - off the beaten path
Jeanne does a great job taking you on wonderful walking tours of Florence. If you are looking for a detailed tourist guide, this isn't it.It was obvious to me that Jeanne spent a signifigant amount of time developing this guide and her recommendations for walks, gelato, trattorias were right on.She led us to places that the locals go!One of our best meals was a trattoria she recommended!5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect guide for the relaxed traveler
This guide is full of wonderful tips for planning your day in Florence! As a casual traveler, I enjoy wandering the streets of a new town watching how the people pass the day and moving slow enough to allow time to look aroundand really see the neighborhoods. The guide gives the phone number to callfor reservations at the Uffizi saving hours of time on line.We walked upto a special entrance with our reservation and were admitted in less thenfive minutes! I have friends who have waited on line twice and were neverable to get inside the Uffizi. The walks are organized and the detailsexplain sites that would normally be unexplained as you hurried from theDuomo to the Ponte Vecchio to Santa Croce. In addition, the local trattoriaslisted were wonderful. I have also used the Venice Walking Guide with greatsuccess andI recently ordered the London and Paris Walking Guides for mynext trip. This guide is money well spent. ... Read more
