5-0 out of 5 stars Bundle with Party Europe
This guide rocks. If you really want to have the best time of your life, buy a copy of Party Europe as well. Let's Go tells you where to stay and eat, Party Europe will tell you how to have fun. Great combination. Can't wait to head back to the old country.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too tight of a squeeze for all of Europe
I lived in the UK for a year and did quite a bit of traveling through Europe and will do nothing but rave about the Let's Go series, however the Let's Go Europe is not what I would recommend.
3-0 out of 5 stars Just take what you need
The maps in the book are ok for planning a little but pick up a mapfrom the tourist office when you get in to you next city to actualy find your way around. The book is cheap enough that i didn't care what i did to it so i just cut out the cities i was visiting and brought the pages instead of the book.Good for lightening the load. The info was mostly accurate but some prices were out of date.Especialy transit and shuttle prices in a few places, but never more than a little change.I still think i prefer my lonely planet books. ... I agree with Juanito's review. This guide rocks. If you really want to have the best time of your life, buy a copy of Party Europe as well. Let's Go tells you where to stay and eat, Party Europe will tell you how to have fun. Great combination. Can't wait to head back to the old country.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Excellent!
This book is the perfect base guide if you are travelling in Europe. If you are doing mostly Western Europe (Italy, France, Spain, Britain, Netherlands, etc.) I would recomment definetly. It is a little more in depth that the regular Let's Go Europe and it still has the main northern and Eastern Europe cities like Budapest, Prague, Helinsky, Copenhaguen, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great guide
I am planning on backpacking for an extended amount of time in Australia. This guide is invaluable in planning my trip. I love the series - it is perfect for a budget traveller like me. I don't know yet how accurate the info is, as I have yet to go, but the book itself is well written and organized.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the outback, but watch out for the spideys n snakes.
This was my 2nd time using Let's Go guides, my 1st being Let's Go Japan.I prefer them to the Lonely Planet guidebooks in general. They seem to have a less intoxicated following. As with my NZ review, I wish that the authors would've stressed the quarantine & customs issues regarding everything including food. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This is your guide if you are trying to visit Mexico on your lunch money.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Guidebook For Those On a Tight Budget
While, I havnen't used the 2006 edition of this guidebook, back in 2004, this was by far the best guidebook for the backpacker/college student on a very limited budget.I found this book to be superior to LP and Rough Guides. The best aspect of the book are the reviews and listings for places to sleep and eat.The only drawback is that the guide to attractions and such isn't as good as some of the other guides.
5-0 out of 5 stars Avoid the tourist trap!
This book allowed my friends and I to see [and eat] all the best of Italy on a tight bugdet & with limited time. Thanks to this book we were able to avoid spending $ on sub par food at all the tourist traps that surround the typical tourist destinations in Italy's popular cities and allowed us to find eateries we wouldn't have visited otherwise. This book is a definite must have for anyone visiting Italy who desires an invidividualised and worthwhile experience. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars brilliant! way better than lonely planet!
I just got back from a summer trip to Germany and Let's Go was my constant companion. My Let's Go guide survived violent almost-deadly storms on Lake Constance, brave climbs straight up the cliffs of the Rhineland, and not just one glass of fabulous German wine spilled on its pages. The Southwest Germany section is especially intriguing and rich in wilderness adventures (but watch out for those nettles!). A definite "thumbpick" for this book! :-P

5-0 out of 5 stars the most up-to-date and useful guide i have found
i am just thrilled about let's go germany, 12th edition. it is an amazing book, much much superior to its predecessors. in comparison, the new guide offers many more pages of detailed advice, including new sights (such as toy-making towns in the former DDR and a brewery-monastery atop a hill near munich).

4-0 out of 5 stars Konichiwa, traveler-san.
This was my 1st experience with the Let's Go series.I'd use them again if for no other reason than 99% of those on round the world trips have LP guides under their arms.My only complaint was that I relied on the SPECIFIC directions regarding Narita (the city, not the airport) and it had me on the other side of town wasting precious time trying to find the temple until my flight departed from NRT.
5-0 out of 5 stars Save money;Travel Cheaply!
Let's Go Japan fills the same niche for traveling as Rough Guide Japan (RG), Lonely Planet Japan (LP), and the older Moon Guide Japan. However, it's the smallest and lightest and leaves out most of the higher priced hotels and ryokan as well as out-of-the-way places away from the core areas.
2-0 out of 5 stars Let's NOT Go to Japan with this guide
When I buy a travel book I expect accurate, useful information.I recently used this book on a trip to Kobe. Not only did the book not mention clearly how restricted are bank hours and how difficult it is to find a bank that handles foreign exchange, but the one bank in the Sannomiya area that was mentioned doesn't exist at the location indicated. The restaurant recommendations are typical for this sort of budget guide that assumes that you want to eat mostly Western food.It did have one good recommendation for a Kobe beef restaurant but didn't give its exact location, only the neighborhood. I had to ask some Japanese colleagues for help because it was only listed on a Japanese language web site. Finally, one of the best places to go in Kobe is a famous hot spring town called Arima. The guidebook makes no mention of Arima though every Japanese seems to know about it and recommend it.The book seems to generallyignore hot springs (or onsen in Japanese) which is strange because they are some of the most scenic and beautiful parts of the country.I didn't use the guide for other cities, but based on my experience in Kobeit fell far short of my expectations. The index also is not comprehensive. No guidebook is perfect, but there have to be better ones than this. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great resource
while traveling through cambodia and vietnam I actually had a couple differentguidebooks.overall I think Let's Go's guide is the better resource, and especialyl for a traveler who's covering a lot of ground in southeast asia. if you use it in conjunction with another guide, I think, you will really get a good feeling for what to do. i would not advise anyone to take just one guide, no matter what, or to use Lonely Planet alone, which was really god awful.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book for the budget-minded traveler
I went to Thailand and Laos in May 2005 for 3 weeks and my brother and I took a copy of Lets Go and Rough Guide.I also browsed through a copy of Frommers and Fodors, but they were not what I was looking for.For the budget minded traveler, Lets Go is excellent at listing great travel options and has prices listed for everything.
1-0 out of 5 stars Do not use this book - I threw it away mid-trip
I've globetrotted a fair amount in my day, and this is hands-down the worst travel book that I have ever used.I found a pirated Lonely Planet at some point, and gladly threw this thing in a trashbin at a guesthouse in Cambodia.I actually chose LG because it was the most recent book, but at one point actually was using a 1997 Lonely Planet - and found it's nearly-decade old information much more useful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best there is
To be entirely honest, I had my doubts at first about the Let's Go line of guidebooks, but this edition really changed my mind.Having picked up a copy of the newest edition on Let's Go Eastern Europe, I recently set out on a tour of the region and found this guidebook to be exquisitely put together and extraordinarily informative. This is a book which maintains a distictly entertaining personality while still offering the soundest travel advice a budget traveller could possibily hope for.I could not recommend this guidebook more highly - it is quite simply the best on the market today.

5-0 out of 5 stars sharp, clever, and useful

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for certain things
This guide blows my other's out of the water on one thing: where to eat and sleep for cheap. Its recconmendations on nice, independent and cheap hostels and places to eat are the best, hands down.Way better than Lonely Planet or Rough Guides. The guide is a bit "Eastern Europe Lite" on most things as it crams in a ton of countries and cities but, nevertheless, it is worth buying soley for the accomodations section.

5-0 out of 5 stars this guide is fabulous!
this book is about a million times better than other books out there about the same region. it's way more recetly updated, the info is thorough and reliable, and the writing is funny & fun to read. i recommend it to anyone traveling to eastern europe--tossing this book into your backpack is totally worth the extra weight.

5-0 out of 5 stars good coverage, esp. former soviet areas

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved this book!
This is my 4th LG book and I haven't been disappointed yet. What I like most about this series is that the writers are about the same age as I am, so they know which place I would most likely want to visit. In my opinion, it has the most detailed info (compared to other travel guides, I also bought the Lonely Planet New England). I wish LG also had a New England book. I used the interesting tidbits in the book about the places I visited for my picture captions, and people always tell me they never knew that, even Bostonians! Overall, I'm very happy with LG and will continue buying it for my future travels.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Guide!everything u need to SEE this city
I bought this book right before I moved to Boston because I didn't know anyone here to show me around.I've used it religiously. And so has everyone else that has been to my apartment: roommates and visitors alike. The info is useful, accurate, and most importantly, the sites that are most affordable are in here...*perfect* for a recent college grad or budget-minded traveler. Now that I've lived in Boston for 2 years now, I still find it useful whenever someone comes to visit and I need ideas.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource at your finger tips/Boston Rocks!!
This book was unbelievable for this location. Compared to fodor's, frommers and the like it had the most user friendly context. Their was some cool insights into the city, its history, and its culture.Easy to find information on all topics with colored tabs on the edge of the page so you can jump from nitelife, to food, to lodging, to transportation.Very handy when your on the street or on the "T" subway.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book with Format Problems
This is the book you want if you're a student, working-class type, or arty bohemian who wants to see London. It's a good guide to the affordable residences, night life, fine art venues, and everything else that makes you want to visit London on a budget. It gives frank appraisals of West End shows, steers you toward the best galleries in the best museums, and tells you where you can get a high-class meal on a tight budget.Everything is broken down by neighborhood, so you can plan your itinerary so everything you take in on a certain day is reasonably close together. And it even gives you pointers on how to find work, volunteer opportunities, and academic programs if you're dissatisfied with just doing the same old tourist baloney.

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's Go is ALWAYS the best....
Let's Go never disappoints. Their recommendations are on point, geared towards my traveling style as 20-something who is well-traveled. It's information is easy to find and well laid out. It's information is concise. It's just the complete package.
2-0 out of 5 stars outdated, many mistakes
I just returned from a two week trip in Costa Rica. I used this guidebook for planning the trip, and for that it was useful with concise and honest summations of each city and region. But once in-country, I was consistently disappointed. There were mistakes on maps and wrong phone numbers, leading to a lot of confusion and one cancelled hotel reservation. Transportation schedules were accurate but the book lacks a central page of transportation tables where all can be seen at a glance. Let's Go is thinner (read: lighter) than other Costa Rica guidebooks, but you pay for this in that the listings aren't very complete -- the Monteverde/Santa Elena region had ten times as many hotels as are listed in the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars *sigh*
Hey, I am Brazilian. Brazilian guidebooks on Brazil are lousy and package-tourist-who-hires-expensive-cars-oriented. So, I gave Let's Go a try - I used many of Let's Go guidebooks before.
4-0 out of 5 stars easy to read
I bought this book for my short trip to Brazil: Rio and Iguau in Dec 04.I had purchased other travel books from lonely planet, rough guide, etc.I think Let's Go guides are easier to read for someone from US (no strange UK terms :).Back to Brazil book, all the basic information is well organized and concise. For people who likes more details and less traveled spots, this book will not be good enough, although I find that one can always talk to people at the hotel or hostel to get more precise info. Also maps are small and not very detailed. ...
