1-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it.
This book is an invaluable resource for anyone planning a trip to Walt Disney World. As a repeat visitor to WDW I found this book about as informative as it gets, they've thought of just about everthing that may present a problem during your visit. It raises quite a bit of awareness, too.Written by folks who really care about everyone being able to enjoy all that WDW has to offer.I can't say enough.

5-0 out of 5 stars Planning a Relaxing and Comfortable Vacation
"Maybe you've always dreamed of taking a vacation to Walt Disney World or cruising with Disney but were reluctant, thinking that once you got there, your special situation would not be accommodated. We'd like to show you how you, too, can enjoy a vacation at this 47-square-mile playground, no matter what special need or requirement you might have."
5-0 out of 5 stars More Than A Guidebook for Special Needs
I purchased this book to prepare for an upcoming trip with my wife's grandmother who is in a wheelchair. This book is not only an excellent resource for the disabled, but also for those that have dietary needs, are large in form, pregnant...the list goes on.Not only is this a great resource, but the only resource out there for those with special needs. We frequent Disney World often (3-4 times a year) and learned numerous things about the special programs, restrictions, and opportunities available out there. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is needing detailed information that cannot be found in a typical guidebook. (Chris Carlson- author, Disney on a Dime) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wheelchairs on the Go: Accessible Fun in Florida
I was a little reluctant at first to purchase this book because of the price and being disappointed in another access guide I had purchased. Also, I don't use a wheelchair on a regular basis. After reading a review, I decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did. Its detailed descriptions of the tourist attractions made it easy for me to decide if the attraction would meet my needs. I never realized how many activities were available for those who use wheelchairs. It opened my eyes to so many things I had not even thought about doing. And the accommodations listed are not just motels! The list includes campgrounds, cabins, B & B's, houses, condos, even houseboats and an RV. There is also an appendix chock full of helpful resources. Thank you Wheelchairs on the Go. This book is a real gift to the disabled community and a bargain at twice the price! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Second Edition Worth The Money
I bought the first edition of this book and I was interested to see if the second editionhad any new information in it or if it was just the same book with a new cover.I have to say that I feel I got my moneys worth. The second edition not only contains updated information and resources, but it also contains a lot of new stuff too.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but outdated information
I got this book as a primer on traveling with a disability. I have Multiple Sclerosis and am both a "Wheeler" and a "Slow Walker" depending on the day. I found the information in Candy Harrington's book quite helpful as a place to start learning about accessible travel, but was sad to learn that many of her references are now outdated.
5-0 out of 5 stars It Helped Us
My wife had a stroke four years ago and now has to use a wheelchair. We both wanted to travel bur I didn't know the first place to look to find out the things we needed to know. The physical therapist said lots of people who have had strokes travel, so we wanted to give it a try.But it was hard to find information. That's where this book helped. It contains a lot of information you need.It should be titled "owners manual" as nobody tells you this stuff when you end up in a wheelchair.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A 100 year old magical adventure that still shines with wonder
Are Edith Nesbit's novels where J. K. Rowling got the idea for her Harry Potter series in which magical witches and wizards live secretly among normal humdrum people (muggles)? It was Nesbit, who wrote 60 children's novels, that first started writing about everyday English children discovering magical people, charms, and spells in their midst. One of the founding members of the Fabian Society, Nesbit was famous in her time for her Socialist beliefs and friends. However, presently it is her children's books that are her enduring legacy.
5-0 out of 5 stars an elderly englishman's view
I'm buying 'Harding's Luck' for one of my 6 grandaughters - a very bright girl in Australia coming up for eleven years old, about the age I read it myself, with huge enjoyment. Her mother tells me that her daughter spurns the modern children's novels she gives her on the grounds that they're "too real" - unlike the books sent by grandfather - as e.g 'Wind on the Moon" by Eric Linklater most recently (highly recommended for 10 year-olds,if you can find it!).
2-0 out of 5 stars Hard Luck - No Stars
As an enormous E Nesbit fan and an avid collector of her books I can barely describe the glee with which I embarked upon Harding's Luck. Not only a new Nesbit book, but a sequel to The House of Arden - one of my top three Nesbit picks. Alas for me this book was a sad disappointment. It was bad enough that Edred's growing up in Arden eclipsed the truly magnificent Elfrida, but in Harding's Luck cousin Richard cheats them both out of any accomplishment. This would be bad enough, but Dickie our hero is cast in the `little lame beggar boy with the heart of gold' mold. After dozens of books with keen and natural renderings of children, this sugar spun Pollyanna crossed with Tiny Tim is flat and forced. As a bit of pure conjecture I will throw the blame on the social agenda of the plot thus demonstrating that very rarely does good art come from politics over observation. All that being said, it is Nesbit and it is the conclusion to the Arden story so I suppose it must be read. However for a book to wash down this one's bitter taste I suggest The Enchanted Castle, Five Children and It, or The Treasure Seekers. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointing
I found this book extremely disappointing. The title suggested one would read about the author's experiences as a wheelchair traveler, the obstacles faced, the solutions available, and the recommendations to other such travelers. Instead, the author was healthy, and although his wife had a physical impairment, she did not appear to be disabled (her activities of daily living were not restricted). She did use a wheelchair, but she was not wheelchair-dependent. The book suggested she could walk, climb steps, use normal restrooms, drive, use normal hotel rooms, and public transportation, where a truly wheelchair-dependent individual can do none of these. The book is not focused on `wheelchair travel'; just on `travel'. As such, the title is misleading to wheelchair-dependent individuals who are considering travel, as it presents a rosy picture that I do not find realistic. I am an internist who has been wheelchair-dependent for a long time, and who has also traveled considerably. I am not a pessimist; it can be done, but it requires enormous, pre-trip, homework and planning to the smallest detail, a very large checkbook, and a very strong and very, very loving companion. I just returned from two weeks in Europe and this is some of what I found: 5-0 out of 5 stars National Amputation Chapter Reviews Simpson's Book
"Wheelchair Around the World is the Simpsons' inspirational story of how this husband and wife team fulfilled their lifelong dream to travel around the world. A light, entertaining travel log, Wheelchair Around the World is a daily account of the couple's adventures-and-misadventures-from the glorious sights they visited to the obstacles they faced due to Anne's handicap.Through stunning photos and vivid detail, Simpson teases each of our senses, beginning with images of Ireland's dazzling spray-covered Cliffs of Moher, Hawaii's breathtaking volcanoes, and the daunting height of Japan's infamous Mt. Fuji. The Simpsons' advice serves as a resourceful guide for all, yet their story exudes an addictive spirit of adventure and faith in God that makes Wheelchair Around the World a motivational, delightfully fun read."
